Credentialing Requirements for Behavioral Health Providers
To ensure your provider enrollment status is active, please validate your recredentialing and revalidation status by logging in to the Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM) portal, select "recredential your provider enrollment" from the left side of the secure home screen and follow the instructions. You will need your National Provider Identifier (NPI).
For crucial recredentialing and revalidation updates, please visit the DOM home page.
To be contracted for all Optum Behavioral Health plans
- To become an in-network provider for Mississippi CAN (MSCAN) and CHIP (MSCHIP), you must be credentialed through the Mississippi Division of Medicaid’s Medicaid Enterprise System Assistance (MESA) provider portal. You can access the MESA portal through the Mississippi Medicaid website. We recommend you complete this process first.
- Then, you will also need to submit a separate credentialing application with Optum Behavioral Health for our commercial and/or Medicare Advantage networks. You can start that process through the Provider Express website. We will then send a participation agreement (contract) for all health plans, including a MSCAN/MSCHIP participation agreement.
To be contracted for Medicaid plans only
Please complete the credentialing process through the MESA portal. Then, call Optum Behavioral Health at 1-877-614-0484 to request a participation agreement for Mississippi Medicaid/CHIP only. Our contracting team will send a MSCAN/MSCHIP agreement for your review.
Additional information and forms are available, including psych/neuropsych testing guidelines, credentialing plans, and Disability Solutions Manual, on the Provider Express Guidelines/Policies & Manuals and Optum Forms pages.
