Optum Walks for Mental Health

Optum Behavioral Health provider advocates assembled at Boston Common in May to participate in the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) NAMIWalks annual event. The event raises awareness and raises funding for behavioral health initiatives.

Participants walked one mile around Boston Common to promote accessible behavioral health support for everyone. Hundreds walked arm in arm, some holding handmade signs expressing their support as bystanders jubilantly encouraged participants.

Part of the NAMIWalks event mission this year was to illuminate the significant cuts, at both the federal and state levels, for the behavioral health services that are in high demand nationally and in greater Boston.

The Optum provider advocate team fundraised to support NAMI’s education programs and looks forward to participating in future NAMIWalks events.
