Promoting and instilling the values of culture, inclusion and diversity are critical to helping people live healthier lives.

To support this mission, Optum Behavioral Health maintains an extensive network of clinicians, outpatient programs and inpatient treatment options. We’re committed to ensuring members have access to care at the right time, in the setting of their choice – and with a provider who is sensitive to cultural differences when providing mental health services to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Providing culturally sensitive behavioral health therapy helps improves patient trust, prevents misunderstandings and improves outcomes. Ignoring cultural nuances can lead to misdiagnoses, ineffective treatment plans, and poor outcomes.

Optum Health EducationUnconscious Bias Training

OHE is a nationally accredited provider of continuing education (CE) for the health care team. It offers a full portfolio of educational activities designed to help improve patient outcomes and positively impact the delivery of health care.

More than 20 courses are available for behavioral health providers. Some are specific to cultural awareness and sensitivity, and others incorporate the topic into a broader training.

The course options change throughout the year, so providers and staff are encouraged to review the catalog regularly.
