More convenience ahead for the online STAR prior authorization tool
The online STAR prior authorization tool – located in the Provider Express secure portal – is a time saver. Since its launch in 2020, STAR has saved hundreds of hours for you and your staff. It’s reduced the time it takes to request approval for patient treatment, submit necessary diagnostic information and get a decision from Optum Behavioral Health.
And it’s about to get even better.
Training to use the STAR portal is now optional
Users have told us the online tool is intuitive and easy to use, so we’re making it easier to get started. Beginning in mid-November, new STAR users will not be required to complete the training module before using the authorization tool.
Don’t worry though – training is still available if you need some help:
- Register for the training platform (first-time users only)
- Review the training (you can return to the course multiple times)
