Merchant ID Needed to Process Care Cash Debit Cards

The UnitedHealthcare Care Cash program gives a pre-loaded Mastercard® debit card to members covered by a Commercial (employer-sponsored) health plan. The debit card can be used to pay the copay and other cost sharing for eligible medical and behavioral health services instead of the member paying for it out of pocket.

Action needed – Update My Practice Info with your merchant ID

The Care Cash Mastercard processes transactions like other debit, credit or gift cards. To facilitate payment processing, a merchant ID is required within your My Practice Profile information. A merchant ID is a unique 15-digit (numeric or alphanumeric) code provided by a payment processor for debit and/or credit card payments.

Here’s what you need to do:

1. Identify your merchant ID

You can find your 15-digit ID on your monthly bank statement, merchant account statement or credit card payment terminal (at the front desk).

2. Add your merchant ID in My Practice Profile

Log in to the Provider Express secure portal and complete the following steps:

  1. Select My Practice Profile from the menu at the top, then select License and IDs
  2. On the License and IDs page, click on the section for Merchant IDs
  3. Select Add New Merchant ID and enter your 15-digit code
  4. If a merchant ID is already listed but isn’t accurate, select Delete Merchant ID to remove it
