The Optum Behavioral Health National Network Manual for providers has been updated. All changes are effective March 1, 2025 and are summarized in the change index on page 2 of the manual.
Review the updated network manual.
Here’s a quick overview of key updates:
ABA assessments: The process to request authorization for an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) assessment has changed, eliminating many of the state-specific forms. Requests are now submitted through the Provider Express secure portal. Details and links are on the new ABA webpage on Providerexpress.com (page 39)
Complex case management: Updated to note that PHQ-2, CAGE-AID and the Youth Wellness Assessment are the screening tools used for the Complex Case Management (CCM) program (page 43)
Psychological testing: Clarified the pre-authorization requirements and noted billing considerations when the testing is completed as part of an inpatient or facility admission (page 44-45)
Medical record requests: Added information to clarify provider responsibilities around member records – electronic access, the timelines for responding to medical record requests and how long records must be maintained (page 57)
