Enhanced security for phone-based Multi-Factor Authentication

As part of our continued effort to strengthen Provider Express secure portal security, we’ve expanded the protection for phone-based Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

What’s changing

To help prevent unauthorized users from accessing the secure portal, the system now limits the number of times someone can try to log in using phone authentication. You’ll now experience a brief pause and will see a timer to let you know how long you must wait before verification options reappear.

This security enhancement does not affect secure portal functionality, so the work you perform in the portal is not impacted.

Why this matters

This enhancement provides an extra layer of protection for providers and helps reduce misuse of phone-based MFA methods — supporting a safer and more reliable Provider Express secure portal login experience.

What you may notice

  • “Call Me” and “Text Me” authentication options may appear temporarily grayed out if several failed login attempts occur in quick succession
  • The options will automatically become available again following the brief pause

If you have any questions about this increased login security measure or need assistance with other secure portal functionality, please call Provider Express secure portal technical support at 1-866-209-9320, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. CT, Monday – Friday.
