September 2025 Top of Mind

Credentialing and recredentialing verifications are transitioning to Medallion

Less time to complete. More automation. Dedicated support. Faster turnaround and completion. More time for you to do other things.

To make it easier and faster for you and your staff to complete credentialing and recredentialing activities, Optum Behavioral Health is transitioning provider data verification from Verisys to the Medallion platform in most markets. The transition began in August and will continue through Sept. 30, 2025.

What to expect

By Oct. 1, 2025, all primary source verification and other credentialing/recredentialing reviews for Optum Behavioral Health providers will occur through Medallion. This applies to all Commercial, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and Exchange/Individual & Family health plans, where applicable.

The only exception is for providers in three states where regulations mandate that Verisys be used for credentialing providers who participate in Medicaid – Arizona, Nebraska and Texas. In those states, Medallion will manage credentialing for all non-Medicaid plans only.

Some providers may receive recredentialing notices from Verisys during the transition period. If you receive outreach from Verisys, please respond to the request. Beginning Oct. 1, all requests will come from Medallion.

What isn’t changing

There are no changes to the documentation requirements or overall process, so the transition should be seamless.

Need assistance?

Providers can access Medallion live chat for real-time assistance with login issues, credentialing questions and more by logging into the Medallion platform and clicking Support Center. Instructions will be included in the notices providers receive.
