Florida Medicaid now covers Caregiver Support Services
Effective Feb. 1, 2025, Community Mental Health Centers can now provide individual counseling and therapy services for your clients’ caregivers – and the services will be covered by Florida Medicaid.
The new Caregiver Support Services benefit is meant to address caregiver burnout, emotional distress and depression. Caregiver burnout is very common. Cleveland Clinic reports that studies show more than 60% of caregivers experience symptoms of burnout.
How to bill for the services
Prior authorization: You will not need to obtain prior authorization for this service.
Claims and billing: Services for the caregiver are to be billed under the member’s plan using:
- HCPC Code H2019 and
- Modifier HR-HS
