UnitedHealthcare Community Plan and Optum Behavioral Health are expanding coverage in Pennsylvania. In mid-June, we’ll administer benefits for eligible Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) enrollees in these additional 12 counties:
The expected effective date of this coverage expansion is June 16, 2025. In total, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Pennsylvania and Optum will serve the CHIP population in 64 Pennsylvania counties.
Here’s how to ensure you’re ready to provide services to CHIP enrollees in the additional counties:
1. Verify Your DHS Enrollment
Please ensure you’re enrolled with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services before providing services to any CHIP enrollee. To verify your enrollment status: go to PROMISe Provider Enrollment on the PA.gov website.
2. Review and update your practice/facility information
To help our members schedule appointments with you, please make sure your practice data and demographic information is up to date. You’ll need to check the contact information (phone, email, office address) for each location where you provide services, as well as office hours and whether or not you are accepting new patients.
Individual Clinicians and Groups: Go to Providerexpress.com and sign in to the Provider Express secure portal (upper right corner) with your One Healthcare ID. Then, select My Practice Info from the menu at the top of the page.
Facilities: Call the Provider Service Line at 1-877-614-0484.
If you have questions about the expansion of CHIP markets in Pennsylvania, please call Provider Services at 1-877-614-0484. We look forward to partnering with you to care for these additional CHIP members.
