Florida: Did you know Crisis Intervention and Criminal Justice Programs are available?

Two programs to help support UnitedHealthcare Community Plan members in Florida were created in 2023 to address the state’s growing mental health crisis. The Crisis Intervention and Criminal Justice Care Programs are proactively supporting Medicaid members with serious mental health problems to help keep them out of emergency rooms, hospitals and correctional facilities. Here’s a refresher on the programs:

• Criminal Justice Care Program
  • Provides additional mental health support for adults who are at-risk of incarceration and/or after incarceration
  • Helps members find the law enforcement and community mental health resources they need to avoid future incarceration and become stable, contributing members of the community
• Crisis Intervention Program
  • Supports children and adults in mental health crisis who have a history of or who are likely to end up in an emergency room
  • Connects them with the appropriate agencies, just-in-time resources and level of care to avoid emergency rooms and hospitalization
