Change in Stride coming for members

Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, Optum will no longer manage the behavioral health benefits for the Harvard Pilgrim New Hampshire Stride Benefit Plan.

What you need to know

  • Claims through Dec. 31, 2024: Services rendered through Dec. 31, 2024, will continue to be managed by Optum. Please continue to submit these claims as you do today.
    • For claims, reconsiderations, and appeals with date(s) of service before Jan. 1, 2025, there will be a claim run-out period of 365 days.
  • Inpatient stays: If a member is inpatient on Dec. 31, Optum and Harvard Pilgrim will continue to cover the inpatient stay until the date of discharge.
    • Once the member transitions to outpatient or intensive outpatient care, the member’s new plan will take over responsibility. Please note that Optum and Harvard are only responsible for the inpatient stay.
  • Continuity of care: For any member in active treatment on Jan. 1, 2025, continuity of care or authorizations should be directed to the member’s new plan.
  • Utilization management: All utilization management activities will end as of Dec. 31, 2024.
  • Claims beginning Jan. 1, 2025: During your first appointment in the new year, ask your client for their new Harvard Pilgrim New Hampshire Stride Benefit Plan member ID card. Update your records with the new contact information and send claims.
